How I Clean Silver
A super easy way to clean silver is silver jewelry cleaning cloths. They com in both Dry or wet and are great for a quick touch up. I don't think their polish lasts as long as Hagerty's does but they can be much easier to find.
If you want the best then Hagerty is your best bet. Unfortunately I have found it harder and harder to find over the years. No really, this is the best stuff I have found. It is really simple to use. You NEED to wear gloves while using this product. While I have gone with out gloves I seriously recommend using gloves. I was cleaning the stuff off my hands all day and i think it did something funky to my skin. The bottle says to wear gloves so... Wear gloves. The other thing you need is a good supply of scrap cleaning cloths. to best remove the tarnish you need a clean spot of cloth. The tarnish will not come off onto cloth that already has tarnish on it. I cut my cloth into six inch squares. I have not tried washing and reusing cloth because my mom has amassed a huge amount of my dads old under shirts. Qutips can also be used with the polish to clean off the tarnish. Be aware that you will go through a lot of them. You also need a good ventilated area if you are going to clean a lot of items. This stuff stinks. I also recommend sitting in a chair so you don't kill your back by hunching over the sink. Personal experience. So, yes. This stuff is great. |
